Waipi’o Valley Ride

Horseback Riding Through Waipiʻo Valley on Hawai’i’s Big Island

“The horse. Here is nobility without conceit, friendship without envy, beauty without vanity. A willing servant, yet never a slave.”

-Ronald Duncan

Waipi’o Valley, the “Valley of the Kings,” is located on the north-east side of the island of Hawai’i, aka “the Big Island.” Treasured as one of the most scenic destinations to visit and explore, it remains the 2nd most visited destination spot on the island, the first being Volcanoes National Park.

Guests first meet at W.O.H. Ranch located just two miles before Waipi’o Valley lookout. We then shuttle down into the valley via 4×4 vehicles to our stables where we meet and greet the horses and mount for the ride.

The trek takes a leisurely pace. Our friendly guides share the legends of this land steeped in rich cultural history and phenomenal natural beauty. The path meanders through lush jungle trails, under flowering canopies, and through curving streams.

You will view dramatic 1200 ft waterfalls, taro patches, lotus ponds, wild horses, exotic flowers, native plants, and birds. See one of Hawai’i’s oldest forms of farming that produces kalo, an island food crop held sacred and honored as family.
